Wiregrass Ranch wide receiver Jonah Gonzalez continues to show why he is emerging as one of the top offensive prospects in the Tampa Bay region.
The 6-foot-2 senior delivered another big performance against rival Wesley Chapel, hauling in several receptions for an estimated 150 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Gonzalez consistently created opportunities downfield and gave the Bulls another explosive option in the passing game.
The performance continues what has been an impressive stretch for Gonzalez. He entered his senior season after catching 38 passes for 690 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior, then opened this year with nine receptions for 139 yards and two touchdowns against South Sumter.
Gonzalez brings a combination of size, speed, athleticism and big-play ability that makes him a difficult matchup on the outside. He can stretch defenses vertically, create separation and turn catches into significant gains. More importantly, he continues to produce when given opportunities.
College programs are beginning to take notice. Gonzalez picked up an offer from Syracuse this summer after previously receiving his first offer from Washburn, and his recruitment has an opportunity to grow considerably as more senior film reaches college staffs.
At Preps Next, we believe Gonzalez is emerging as one of the region’s top senior prospects. His production, physical tools and continued development put him on track for a major senior year, and performances like his two-touchdown outing against Wesley Chapel will only bring more attention.
